Official video for 'Heretic' Patrick Bisschops has made a video for our song 'Heretic', it's online now! In the video you see the Honkies doing what they usually do: going to the shooting range, eating chinese food, drinking beer, starting fires, taking baths, brushing teeth, hanging out at the fairground with people that wear clogs, swimming with our kids and ofcourse playing bad ass rock&roll. The Honkies party hard! We had a blast last saturday at the Zwarte Cross-festival, the Megatent was packed with people (couple of thousand) and we played one of our best shows... Everything was great, the guestperformances (Rocco (from De Staat), Kees (from Vechthoer), Yildar and Jort), the crowd dancin' on stage at our last song and a couple of new tunes that we played for the first time... And the great thing is: it's all caught on tape for our first videoclip! We wanna thank everyone who came to visit us for the screamin' and dancin', the guestplayers and ofcourse our roadcrew: Ruud, Peter, Dyon, Kees, Koen, William, Torre, Rocco and Franky! Popkomm Berlin! The Bloody Honkies will be playing at the Popkomm in Berlin on October the 9th! The Popkomm is a showcase-festival for European bands, we're really happy to play there, also because the venue we're scheduled at is White Trash Fastfood, a legendary rock&roll-club... So get your asses to Berlin in October! Oh yeah: our gig at the Pit, September the 27th, is cancelled, we'll probably play there a few months later. Next saturday we're playing in the Megatent at the very cool Zwarte Cross festival ( www.zwartecross.nl ) so we hope to meet you there! 26th of June, 2008

Wet Belly Some people that visit our shows ask us why one of our songs, Wet Belly, isn't on our latest album. WellÉwe dig the song but we couldn't find the right spot for it on The Gospel of The Bloody Honkies, so for the people that just can't live without it (literally millions, I tell ya!) I present to you: Wet Belly live at the Motel Mozaique festival! It was recorded by 3voor12 on the 14th of April 2007. It lasts about ten minutes 'cause we were in a jammin' mood that day, so keep listening for some loose Honkie-improvisation. It was mixed on the spot, so the sound quality isn't that fantastic, but hey, it's all we got... Click on the link below. Enjoy! Update The Honkies aren't only sitting on their lazy asses watching tv and smoking reefer, no brother no.... We're busy writing new tunes for our next album! (Working title 'Voulez vous coucher avec moi up the butty-hole', inspired by the French adventures of our roadie and boytoy Leprechaun Arkansas Dave). We're planning on recording the first five or six songs in July. The release of our second album is scheduled for January 2009. In the meantime keep playin' our first lovechild 'The Gospel of The Bloody Honkies' and come and dance at our shows!

'…Qua bands begon de zondag ook aangenaam met The Bloody Honkies. Al was het nog erg rustig op het festivalterrein, de band gaf alles wat ze hadden en zo waren ze voor degene die geen koffie lust een goed alternatief om mee wakker te worden. '…Terwijl de meeste campinggasten langzaam ontwaken, staan de eerste dagjesmensen al in de Masters of Rock tent voor de vroege klanken van The Bloody Honkies. Een prettige kennismaking, zo blijkt na drie kwartier. De band is een soulvolle kruising tussen de seventies geënte rock van Wolfmother en de grunge van Pearl Jam. Van die laatste band heeft zanger Lawrence Mul erg goed naar frontman Eddie Vedder gekeken. Zijn poses, gebaren en vocalen zijn haast identiek. Als de band ruimte maakt voor een jam, komen de kwaliteiten van de individuele bandlleden bovendrijven. Met name gitarist Wout Kempkens valt in positieve zin op en toont zich met soepele gitaarlicks een ware Jimmy Page. "Dit is ons laatste nummer en dan gaan we bier drinken", roept zanger Lawrence. '…Voor The Bloody Honkies was het - na het 'reguliere' optreden op Paaspop in Schijndel en de akoestische sessie daarna - alweer het derde optreden van de dag. Ze blijken echter nog lang niet uitgeblust. The Honkies raggen er meteen vol in en zanger Lawrence heeft binnen een mum van tijd alle uithoeken van het podium, en alles daarbuiten, gezien. Pauzeren is er nauwelijks bij. Het vorige nummer is nog nauwelijks afgelopen of het volgende wordt alweer ingezet. Hoewel de Lichtenvoordse band nog lang niet klaar is met rocken, hebben ze hun eigen repertoire vandaag al wel genoeg gehoord: "We spelen onze nummers al zo vaak, dat wordt een beetje saai", aldus gitarist Wout. Maar of dat nu reden moet zijn om covers te gaan spelen? Die tijd lijken The Bloody Honkies nu wel voorbij te zijn. Hoe dan ook, de covers klinken goed en worden ook warm ontvangen door het publiek. Naast de covers heeft de band nog een verrassing in petto. Het Nijmeegse De Staat (vriend van The Honkies) wordt namelijk het podium geroepen om samen het nummer 'Blood (Book of Love)' te spelen. Ondertussen is Lawrence weer eens te vinden op één van de geluidsboxen. Echter, in al zijn enthousiasme valt de zanger er van af en blijft lange tijd op de grond liggen. Hoewel de situatie eerst ernstig lijkt te zijn (bassist Clemens laat zijn bas voor wat het is en schiet zijn broer te hulp), staat Lawrence onder gejuich weer op om daarna onverstoorbaar een einde aan het optreden te maken….' No gig tomorrow! We're sorry to inform you that we had to cancel our gig in Nijmegen April 1st. Lawrence has an infection due to his acrobatics in Willemeen on March 23rd, he has to rest in bed for the next couple of days, so no dancin' and no singin', doctor's orders... 13th of March, 2008

You can also watch videos by other cool bands such as Baltazar, Them Holy Rollers and Birth of Joy. We've got a few cool gigs coming up, two times at Paaspop next week! At Paaspop Schijndel we will also perform some songs for radio KINK FM in the Jack Daniels bar around three o«clock. Our main gig at Paaspop Schijndel will be at one o'clock, so be early, we're playing at the Masters of Rock stage, huge fuckin' stage man! Later that day we're playing in Arnhem with a very cool band from Norway, The Cheaters, at a very cool venue, Willemeen. May 1st we're playing with another funky band, The Bellrays, at Waterfront. Eurosonic festival! We had a great night at the Eurosonic festival last thursday. The place was packed, filled with loose women and crazy men screaming for more, unfortunately the schedule was very tight, so we could't play an encore...sorry you guys.... Two e-zines reviewed the show: Kindamuzik and MusicfromNL, read below: Kindamuzik ''Van fluisterzacht naar knijterhard is een afstand van welgeteld 25 meter. In de kleine bovenzaal van de Shadrak doen de Bloody Honkies hun best om de fundamenten van het gebouw los te beuken. De op trommelvliesscheurend niveau gebrachte garagerock doet de kroeg op haar grondvesten schudden. Met retestrak spel en de gedreven presentatie kost het de vier boerenkinkels geen enkele moeite om de zaal te veroveren met hun vol vuur en soul gespeelde rock. Het luidkeels om een toegift brullende publiek wordt bijna beloond. De gitaar is alweer ingeplugd en de eerste noten van nog een stampende rocker zijn al te horen als een onverbiddelijke medewerker het kwartet van het podium stuurt. MusicfromNL The Bloody Honkies - Shadrak Up Die hadden we vorig jaar toch echt gemist, maar na de keihard rockende debuutplaat en de vele overenthousiaste verhalen uit het clubcircuit waren we zeer content met deze invalbeurt voor THE BLOODY HONKIES. De vier heren uit Lichtenvoorde maken de typering "rock 'n roll-sensatie" binnen luttele minuten al volledig waar. Amaai wat knallen die gasten er vol op. Als regionale act stonden ze in 2007 op de Zwarte Cross, maar TBH zou daar en op andere festivals nog wel eens grotere podia kunnen gaan platspelen. De band lijkt er in ieder geval helemaal klaar voor. Lawrence Mul is een geweldige, granieten frontman en er zijn geen zwakke schakels te ontdekken in deze bijzonder geoliede machine. Ze pompen onafgebroken gierende, soms bluesy rock 'n roll de zaal in en het publiek schreeuwt uit volle borst mee: "Lies, lies, lies... in the bedroom". De driekwartier vliegen in een oogwenk voorbij en het is geen verrassing dat een stampvolle Shadrak dan brult om meer. Het is de enige keer dat we dat zo luidkeels bij EuroSonic meemaken, maar de organisatie is onverbiddelijk. Jammer maar begrijpelijk, want er staat beneden alweer een prima band klaar. recorded 7 more songs... Last week we recorded 7 more songs for our debut album, which brings the total to 15 songs (with the Hilversum sessions we did last year). Our friend Torre is gonna mix the whole thing and then we'll probably pick our 12 or 13 favorites and put them out as the 'GOSPEL OF THE BLOODY HONKIES'. The songs that you can listen to on our myspace are from the first recordingsession in Hilversum, these are being remixed by Torre, so these are not the definite versions, just the raw mixes. Last week we recorded the songs in our rehearsalroom with Torre (www.torreflorim.com) and Rutger (www.withice.nl), which worked very good for us since we could also record at night, the time when our engines really get going.... The songs we recorded are a mix between catchy and poppy rock&roll, psychedelic garage and fast and raw stuff. We focused extra on the vocals, by trying out different things and singing all together. We are very pleased with the results and we can't wait to release it, so all of you can hear it too! In the meanwhile come to our shows! 12th of July, 2007

Drummer Hooky is also leaving the bandÖ Öbut only for one day and on this day the Honkies are playing the Paradiso main hall! But no worries, Dr. Bob will fill in Hooky's spot and the rockaction will continue. So Lawrence and Clemens will hit the stage with the DOCTOR and the almighty WIZARD.

Door Hiske Pronker, 26 juni 2007 Hierna gingen de jonge honden van The Bloody Honkies loos. Hun rauwe, psychedelische rock 'n roll was flink stevig en werd vol passie gebracht. Het gromde en groovde en vooral de gitarist met zijn eigenzinnige spel zorgt voor de psychedelische scherpe randjes. Qua presentatie trok vooral de zanger de aandacht. Hij zorgde voor de band met het publiek. Letterlijk toen hij een snoekduik het publiek in deed. De rest van de band ging verstopt (gitarist en bassist) achter hun lange haar volledig op in hun spel. Geeft niets, ze speelden erg goed. Ze sloten hun set toepasselijk af met de hulp van de organisator van de avond: Joshua. Dat deden ze met de cover: ìI wanna be your dogî van The Stooges. Door Paul van Dijk, 30 mei 2007 Vol overgave, een goed moment om in de bespreking over te stappen naar het voorprogramma: The Bloody Honkies. Want wat hebben deze mannen uit Lichtenvoorde een energie en wat weten ze deze goed in hun gitaren, drums en hun uitstraling naar voren te laten komen. In deze band komt de jaren zeventig rock, tachtig metal en een flinke dosis rock 'n roll samen om een geluid en act te creÎren die van het podium af spat. In sommige nummers, met name de afsluiter, leunt de zanger Lawrence Mul wel Èrg op naar wat lijkt zijn grote held Iggy Pop, maar de onbetwiste koning van het podium imiteren in je act lijkt me geen schande. Zeker niet als het ook nog overtuigend overkomt. Als we bedenken dat deze heren ooit begonnen als The Facials, met punkfunk die richting de Red Hot Chili Peppers ging, dan zijn ze in hun niet eens zo heel lange bestaan van ver gekomen. En als je ziet hoe ze met hun heftige rock 'n roll werkelijk van het podium af knallen, dan is ook direct duidelijk dat deze mannen de weg naar de top zijn ingeslagen. The Bloodie Honkies is een ijzersterke belevenis, en misschien wel een regelrechte sensatie. Door Sietske Oud over Appelpop 2006 Na een koude nacht op de camping is het de volgende dag stralend zomerweer. We laten Lange Frans en Baas B. vandaag voor wie ze zijn en begeven ons naar The Bloody Honkies die aftrappen op het Gelders Podium. Helaas is de kleine tent weinig gevuld. Zal iedereen nog staan kijken bij het bloemen- en fruitcorso dat op dit moment bezig is in Tiel? De vier heren uit Lichtenvoorde verdienen meer publiek! De langharige zanger Lawrence Mul beweegt zich rockend over het podium zingt en grunt energiek door de microfoon. Daarnaast slingert de gitarist puike soloís de tent in. Na krap een half uur spelen kondigt de zanger het laatste nummer al aan. Dit nummer wordt echter in de kiem gesmoord door de presentator die met afkappende bewegingen het podium op komt lopen. Met de woorden: ìOh nee, toch nietî lijkt het optreden te eindigen. Het publiek dat er staat laat de Honkies echter niet in de steek en roept meerdere malen om een toegift. Door Hiske Pronker, 13 juni 2007 The Bloody Honkies spelen stevige rock met wat vleugjes jaren '70 hardrock, psychedelica, stonerrock en americana, waar toch een duidelijk hedendaags geluid aan wordt gegeven. Ze hebben een zeer extroverte zanger die zich met lijf en leden, een prima stem en z'n hele seksualiteit in de strijd gooide. Niet de 'Ik haal mijn lul uit mijn broek'-seksualiteit maar bewegingen die de temperatuur in de zaal beduidend deden stijgen. Gelukkig ging hij af en toe aan de kant zodat het publiek haar aandacht kon richten op de meer introverte andere bandleden, die buitengewoon goed speelden. Door Job de Quay, 16 februari 2007 Geen rijen mensen vanavond bij de kassa van Tivoli; het publiek druppelt mondjesmaat binnen zodat de zaal nog verre van half vol is als voorprogramma The Bloody Honkies op het podium verschijnt. De Achterhoekse formatie is een jaar of drie geleden voortgekomen uit The Facials en heeft een attitude van rauwe, psychedelische rock-'n-roll, eigenzinnig gitaarwerk, knijpende kelen en geil fundament - iets waar ze een maand geleden op Noorderslag al een sterke indruk achterlieten. Vanavond overtuigen de The Bloody Honkies een stuk minder. In eerste instantie lijkt het of de band moet inkomen; normaal springt de frontman Lawrence Mul als een bezetene over het podium. Dat het vanavond - vooral in de eerste helft - niet gebeurt, kan liggen aan het ruimtegebrek waar de band mee te kampen heeft; ze spelen op een klein gedeelte voor op het podium omdat de backline van de Datsuns reeds klaar staat. Ook is gitarist Wout Kemkens niet overtuigend in zijn solo's. Naar het einde van het optreden komen de band, frontman en daarmee het publiek losser en wordt het toch een leuke show. Guitarist Wout Kemkens is leaving the band... But only for one month. Now, you can't stop the rock so Wout will be replaced by Vedran 'The Wizard' Mircetic for a couple of gigs. If you wanna see THE WIZARD in action go to our gigs in Rotterdam (July 1st), Alkmaar (July 7th), Deventer (July 8th) and Amsterdam (July 14th), he promised to bring his teremin so don't miss it. We recorded our album in October 2006 and you crazy fans must be thinking: 'What's taking so goddamn long!?' Well we (the Honkies and our magic productionteam) had to find a good place and some time to mix the whole thing. In two weeks we're gonna finish the job and then some mp3's will be online very soon. Even goed spelend als The Pax hadden zij, of in elk geval de zanger, daar bovenop wÈl die onstuitbare bewijsdrang. Frontman Lawrence Mul ging als een ware Iggy Pop tekeer, krijste, klom op de boxen, hing aan het plafond, en liet zich languit achterover vallen om vervolgens liggend op zijn rug verder te zingen.' 'Het was dolle pret. Het was vermaak in optima forma. Het was een show die zou kunnen doen vermoeden dat de band het niet van de muziek moet hebben. De band speelt jaren-zeventig-lange-haren-rock en dat doen ze overtuigend. De band speelt strak en de zanger heeft een goede stem. Hij kan zowel rauw zingen als schreeuwen, met een goede podiumpresentatie. De vergelijking met Axl Rose dringt zich op, maar dan zonder samengeknepen ballen. Door Eric Corton, 19 mei 2006 'En dan Lichtenvoorde. Dt ligt in de buurt bij Zieuwent ergens onder de rook van Doetinchem. Een tijdje terug moest ik in Silvolde zijn (niet vragen waarom) en daar liep ik een gast tegen het lijf. Na zijn vraag wat ik daar deed (hij wel) ging de conversatie al snel over muziek. Over hele goede muziek. The Stooges bijvoorbeeld en dat hij daar zo gek van was. Pas helemaal aan het einde van de avond zei deze gast dat hij ook een bandje had en of ik daar op Myspace eens naar wilde luisteren. De rest is inmiddels geschiedenis. Hollandsche Nieuwe op 3VOOR12 in Dubbel Check en spelen in de Club is een feit na woensdag en wat hebben ze dat FANTASTISCH gedaan. Deze viertaktmotor gromt en bonkt dat het een lieve lust is. De aloude overbekende steenharde oergroove wordt zo lekker gespeeld door deze vier jonge gasten uit Lichtenvoorde. Dat maak ik maar zelden mee. En daarmee hebben ze ook mij ongelooflijk verrast. Hadden we vorige keer Black Lips, uit Atlanta met grote voorprogramma's en toffe recensies en fans onder muzikanten, deze achterhoekse bende gaat de Lips wat mij betreft links en rechts met hoge snelheid voorbij. Ook schuifregelaar en meester-oor van het programma Appie was zeer te spreken over The Bloodies. Zo erg dat het zo maar zou kunnen zijn dat de Honkies deze zomer een studio in kunnen om wat mooie grove werkmansopnames kunnen gaan maken. Datum en auteur onbekend 'SILVOLDE - Er was maar ÈÈn groep die gisteren zo tekeer ging tijdens de finale van de Achterhoekse popprijs - de eerste editie van de Music Awards - als The Bloody Honkies. Een optreden van deze alternatieve rockband is als spelen met vuur.' 'Hoofdpijn achter de mengtafel. Larry Haccou moet alle zeilen bijzetten om de vier muzikanten op het podium in het gareel te houden. De Silvoldse knoppenman probeert de band af te remmen, maar hij weet ook dat de groep 'hard mÛet spelen'. Het ongeleide projectiel van de vier Achterhoekse twintigers, The Bloody Honkies, zet de lichten in het rood, zoals dat heet. Dertig minuten raast er zondagmiddag iets door 't Pakhuus in Silvolde en het heet rock-'n-roll. Kopzorgen blijft de jury van Achterhoekse Music Awards, waarvoor voorrondes in Groenlo, Doetinchem Borculo en Lichtenvoorde de afgelopen weken vier finalisten hebben geleverd, bespaard. De drie mannen, Jeffrey Hartjes (drummer en programmeur), Jules van Rijn (sociaal-cultureel student, stagiair van 't Pakhuus) en Patrick Busby (zanger), kiezen aan het begin van de avond unaniem The Bloody Honkies tot winnaar van de eerste editie van de nieuwe regionale popprijs.' 'De 'Honkies' heeft bijna alles en dus veel meer dan de rest. Een meppende drummer, een ronkende bassist, een mooie jongen met gemene gitaarrifs en een doldwaze zanger, Laurence Mul (26). De ranke zanger steelt de aandacht met zijn gekrijs, is beweeglijk en pakt de zaal in met even onver- en -onweerstaanbare refreinen over (waarschijnlijk) sex, drugs en rock-'n-roll op het platteland. Zelfs als de groep gas terugneemt, klinkt ze dreigend. De Honkies, die al is opgepikt door de alternatieve Hilversumse radio, leunt sterk op de Amerikaanse garagerock van MC5, The Stooges en The White Stripes, maar klinkt tegelijk fris, opwindend en spannender dan deze finale de popprijs van de Achterhoekse in feite was.'
